About the author
Sarah Cavallaro, founder, president, and executive producer of Emerald Films, has built a distinguished career spanning 25 years in international TV commercial production. Renowned for her sharp instincts in talent development and project curation, she has successfully led Emerald Films to become a highly acclaimed production company. Her work with leading American, Canadian, and European filmmakers has earned numerous prestigious accolades, including the Mobius and Clio Awards. Sarah has been at the helm of creating powerful, award-winning commercials for iconic brands such as Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Ford, Budweiser, and many other Fortune 500 companies.
After an impressive 25-year tenure in commercial production, Sarah transitioned Emerald Films to focus on producing social impact art installations, collaborating with world-renowned artist and filmmaker Cosimo Cavallaro. Together, they have created thought-provoking installations such as Cheese House, Twiggy in Cheese, Chocolate Jesus, Absolute Pressed Ham, Cheese Wall on the Border, and Cheese Hotel Room 114. She also directed a short documentary titled Absolute Pressed Ham, based on the art installation of the same name. The film was a finalist at Silver Docs AFI.
Sarah is also an award-winning author. Her indie-published novel, Dogs Have Angels Too, won an Indie Reader Discovery Award for Best in Women’s Fiction. She later adapted the novel into a feature-length screenplay titled Miss Pink. In addition to her novels and screenwriting, Sarah’s poetry and short stories have been published in numerous anthologies and literary outlets, including Spring Street Press, Lipstick Pages, Shampoo, Mom Egg Press, Gold Wake Press, Sage Trail Press, and Uncut Magazines. Her work often explores themes of transformation, self-empowerment, and change.
Sarah has also written two stage plays, Keeping Athenia and Between the Juice and the Eggs, which have been workshopped at several prominent New York City theatrical venues, including the prestigious Actors Studio Directors/Writers Lab. A former member of the lab and the Directors Guild of America, Sarah has further honed her craft by studying acting with the legendary Kim Stanley and Bill Hickey at HB Studios.
Currently, Sarah is developing an unscripted TV series titled Mold Me Lick Me Sell Me, based on her intimate creative nonfiction book that chronicles the artistic, romantic, political, and culinary exploits of renowned pop culture artist Cosimo Cavallaro’s large-scale public installations.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Sarah is the co-director and founder of Art Above Ground, a successful nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting provocative, interactive, and inclusive public art installations worldwide.
Sarah holds a BA in Social Work from Antioch College and an MA in Criminal Justice from John Jay Graduate School of Criminology. She divides her time between Los Angeles and New York City.
